The Moved by Nature project (2017-2019) aimed at promoting health and well-being among children and young people by increasing physical activity in nature. Interventions were made in the project, called Nature activity days. They enabled children to engage in fun and inspiring activities in nature at different times of the year. There was also experimentation with various forms of green exercise.

In our study on the interventions ”Moved by Nature – School-children’s experiences of outdoor activities in nature”, we examined elements involving outdoor activities that were of significance for the children. Second, we looked into how the interventions inspired the children to do outdoor activity in nature. Third, we examined the role of nature activities in children's everyday lives.
Practical experience gleaned from the intervention and the study shows how rewarding physical activity in nature, at its best, can be for children.
